Joyful Light Education -- What is it?
Joyful Light Education is not a curriculum, rather it is a name
I made up for the method of homeschooling that my family uses.
Any curriculum could be used with this method.
Our family uses
the Robinson Curriculum
as the main curriculum with other materials encouraging independent
learning. The Robinson Curriculum is a set of 22 CD roms
of which contain over 150 books to print out for students to read.
These books cover grades K - 12. Math needs to be bought separately.
For science and history, I also use materials from Sonlight,
the Well
Trained Mind, Christian Liberty Press, and other good
quality reference books that a child can use -- no matter what grade
level they are at. These books are added to the reading list
of the Robinson Curriculum and a report is sometimes written up on
what was learned. (It may be helpful if you view the "My System" link
of my website first before you view the pages for the individual subjects.)
Because our family
uses the Robinson Curriculum as the main curriculum, you will
hear a lot about the Robinson Curriculum on this site. Therefore
this site was made primarily with Robinson Users in mind.
I do know that some of this information will be useful to any homeschool
family. So if you do not use the Robinson Curriculum, this site
is still for you also.
Important note:
No supplementation is needed with the Robinson Curriculum unless:
1. It is required by the state laws of the state that
you live in
2. Your child needs extra help in a certain subject area.
3. Your child has an interest in that area and wants to
study it.
To learn more about the Robinson Curriculum,
there is a Yahoo group, Robinson Users For Christ, that is a support
group for those who use the Robinson Curriculum. All the people
on it are very helpful.
Follow the links
at the side to take you to pages sharing tips, links, and curriculum
to aid in the learning of each subject. Again the information
on those pages are for anyone -- even if they do not use the Robinson
Curriculum.
New version of the Robinson Curriculum is now
out. Grammar books and Vocabulary worksheets, and an updated
Course of Study are included on the disks now for you to print.
To learn how to order the update, check out this link.
Also check out Robinson Books. All the Henty books, the Grammar books, and the Vocabulary books are now available to buy already printed. More to be added later. The plan is to eventually include all the Robinson books.
