Vacation 2001

Missouri, Hayti-AM

Hayti Community Center

Our next stop is the Hayti (pronounced HAY-tye) Community Center which serves meals to senior citizens through the week. My Aunt Hazel goes in early to help set things up. She usually stays to take names and enjoy the meal. She will be our tour guide today after helping with the set-up, so she will miss the dinner of chicken livers and enjoy the Kentucky Fried Chicken buffet with us instead.

Aunt Hazel and her truck.

The first thing she had to do was take her truck home. As long as we were there, we stopped in for a few minutes.

Aunt Hazel's Trailer House

One reason we stopped in was so Brenda could get the cards and gifts she had purchased ready to mail to her grandsons in Minnesota. Aunt Hazel has a very snug trailer sitting between the houses of Aunt Virginia and cousin Dennis.

Post Office, Hayti, MO

One last quick stop in Hayti that morning was the post office. It became a familiar sight to us. I believe Brenda must have mailed something to her three grandsons every day of our trip.
